How do I setup email on alarm?

Recent versions of Outlook do not easily allow other programs (including Commander) to send emails. User intervention for all emails sent from other programs. Due to this restriction we recommend the use of an email program other than Outlook to handle Commanders emails.  Compatible programs include Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Windows Live Mail.  These are programs that are available free from Microsoft.


SETUP TO USE OUTLOOK EXPRESS

To use Commanders email on alarm with Outlook Express:

1) Set up Outlook expess as your default mail system. (In Outlook Express select Tools menu then Options then General Tab then click Make default button.)

2) Set up Outlook Express accounts including outgoing email server, username and password. Check remember password box.

3) In Outlook Express menu select Tools then Options then select Security tab.

4) Uncheck box: "Warn me when other applications try to send emails as me."

5) Under the Send tab make sure that the "Send Emails Immediately" check box is checked.


SETUP TO USE WINDOWS LIVE MAIL:

To use Commanders email on alarm with Windows Live Mail:

1) Set up Windows Live Mail as your default mail system. (In Windows Live Mail select Tools menu then Options then General Tab then click Make Default button for default mail handler.)

2) Set up Windows Live Mail accounts including outgoing email server, username and password. Check remember password box.

3) In Windows Live Mail menu select Tools then Safety Options then select Security tab.

4) Uncheck box: "Warn me when other applications try to send emails as me."

5) Under the Tools menu click on Options then select the  Send tab make sure that the "Send Emails Immediately" check box is checked.




SETUP EMAIL IN COMMANDER

1) From Commanders Main screen select setup then email.

2) Uncheck box: Disable all emails

3) Enter email address(es) for emails to be sent. Note on most email systems User Names are not required and should be left blank.

4) Test email button can be clicked to check for proper operation.
