How often do I need to charge my UPS that is currently not being used?

A UPS needs to be powered periodically to charge its batteries otherwise battery capacity and run time will be reduced.  The below graph shows the typical charging requirements of sealed gelled lead acid batteries based on storage temperature.



 
80-100% The batteries are ready to be used.  Charging is not required unless full capacity is required.
 
60-80% Charging before use is recommended to recover full capacity
 
0-60% Charging may not recover full capacity
